December 12, Kyiv National Mykola Dragomanov University hosted an International conference “European Values and Social Cohesion in Education” organized by Jean Monnet SCEGES team. This outstanding event united experts in such challenging and burning issues of the current Ukrainian educational agenda as social inclusion, XXI century’s competencies framework, EU educational policies, LLL, the concept of modern community-oriented university etc. As Maria Nesterova, SCEGES coordinator, has aptly pointed out in her welcoming speech, the European values should serve as a backbone for pedagogical education system designed specifically for the New Ukrainian School.
Among the speakers that represented institutions from all over the EU and Ukraine, Olena Tupakhina from EUVOLIA team reported upon the project’s challenges and successes in introducing an innovative, value-oriented course. Olena’s report entitled “Value-oriented approach in teaching Humanities: EUVOLIA experience” combined social surveys data analysis with the demonstration of innovative methods developed within EUVOLIA methodological framework to shape the students’ values sets.
