Gillette’s Ad on Toxic Masculinity Gets Everyone Hyped Up

Gillette’s impressive shift from “the best a man can get” to “the best men can be” in their new ad has caused a real storm on social media. While many praise the shaving company for raising such important issues as sexism and social violence, the others claim to boycott Gillette’s products due to the ad’s “pathetic global assault on masculinity”.

How do you feel about that? Watch the ad and share your thoughts on EUVOLIA Facebook!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Warmest season greetings from EUVOLIA team! Let  the respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law be your faithful companions in the upcoming year!

BTW, who’s gonna bring you presents this year – Father Frost of Santa Clause? Check Tamara Zlobyna’s column on “Ukrainska Pravda” to find out more about the shift of values underpinning both of the characters!

“Are the Ukrainians as hospitable as they boast to be?”

Isn’t Ukrainian hospitality a flattering myth, after all? That’s the question the Journalist Human Rights Network coordinator  Iryna Virtosu raises in her column in “Ukrainska Pravda”. Based on the results of the second social survey on Ukrainians’ awareness of human rights and freedoms (specifically, of tolerance and discrimination issues), the author draws a disappointing conclusion: almost 28% of our compatriots don’t consider discrimination a big deal, while tolerance holds the last, thirteenth, place in our human rights chart.

The results of the survey are available here

EUVOLIA Course Presented to Young Researchers

Christmas Readings, an annual young researcher conference traditionally held by the Faculty of Foreign Philology, has created a wonderful opportunity to present EUVOLIA course to the regional student community. EUVOLIA Course Presented at the Faculty of History

On Thursday, December 13, EUVOLIA course presentation took place  at the Faculty of History. Project coordinator Stanislav Cherkasov introduced the students majoring in International Relations, Social Communications and Regional Studies to the key concepts of our relevant, practical and thrilling course, including EUVOLIA five basic modules devoted to axiological aspects of various historical periods (Middle Ages, Reneissance, Enlightenment, Victorian Age and XX century). The course would provide an opportunity to trace the history of European values back to the times they had been shaped, to understand the core of modern Euro-Atlantic civilization and to study its axiology through fiction.  It’s a chance to liik back at your own system of values, to get ready for a modern multicultural and pluralistic world to live in and to get a fresh perspective of a well-known classical pieces of fiction.  As a result of the presentation, over 20 students expressed their desire to enroll for the EUVOLIA course.

EUVOLIA coordinator attended Jean Monnet Info Day in Brussels

On November 28-29, 2018 EUVOLIA coordinator Stan Cherkasov joined other Erasmus+ project coordinators in Brussels for traditional annual event held by EC and EACEA.

The conference was devoted to various aspects of project implementation and management. The participants studied best practices delivered by Jean Monnet Activities within the three basic directions (JM Modules, Chairs and Centres of Excellence) and discussed the future of the program in the light of recent challenges EU has been facing: Brexit, defence crisis, problems of economics and ecology etc.

As a project coordinator, Stan Cherkasov also had a chance to present EUVOLIA project to Erasmus+ community of experts. While the majority of the recent call’s winners focused mainly on economical or legislative issues, EUVOLIA effectively stood out as a project in Humanities dealing with European civilization choice.
